Earl F. Hilliard, Jr. found his true calling in public service when he started working for the people of the communities he grew up in. Like many people in the 7th District, integrity and hard work are defining values for Earl F. Hilliard, Jr.
For Earl, integrity has always demanded that he respect and listen to others, that he speak with sincerity, that he honor his commitments, that he have compassion for those who need help and that he stand up for what is right even when it is not popular. To Earl, hard work has always meant asking the right questions, doing the right thing and getting the job done the right way. Earl knows that hard work requires doing his homework, arriving early, staying late and creating opportunities when there seem to be none and he is committed to working hard for the people of Alabama. An accomplished attorney and filmmaker, Earl graduated from Howard University School of Law and is the president of Magic City Films. Prior to coming back home to start a family and serve his community, Earl earned both corporate and government experience in Washington, DC. As a result, he has a unique understanding of the challenges of business and the inner workings of Capitol Hill. In 2008, Earl was proud to be elected by the voters of the 7th Congressional District as an Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Today, Earl is a strong supporter of President Obama’s agenda to create jobs, reform health care and advance America’s greatness. Currently, Earl represents District 60 in the Alabama House of Representatives. In the state legislature Earl has quickly earned a reputation for protecting the rights of the most vulnerable, and has been a champion for missing, exploited and parentless children as well as public libraries and schools in his district. Earl and his wife, Janine, are strong advocates for children, particularly those in need of foster care. They and their two children, Earl Hilliard III and Nya Nicole, are members of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in North Pratt. |
