Birmingham, AL – State representative and candidate for the open seat in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District, Earl Hilliard, Jr., was joined today at the Jefferson County Truck Growers Association and Alabama Farmers Market by members of the Alabama Farmers Federation, as well as several farmers from the Birmingham area, to formally announce Rep. Hilliard’s recent endorsement from the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA).

Rep. Hilliard said today’s dialogue with local farmers from the 7^th district was an open and very productive one.  “The farmers of this district play a key role in putting food on many Alabamians’ tables, while also benefiting our local economies.  It’s important that I hear their concerns and hopes for the future, as well as discuss how we can continue working together when I’m in Congress to help them achieve their goals.”

Dicky Odom, Greene County ALFA President, explained ALFA’s endorsement, saying, “The Federation has endorsed him whole-heartedly.  He earned that endorsement.  He can work both sides of the aisle and he does what’s good for the state.”  Directing his attention to Rep. Hilliard, Odom concluded, “We’re gonna fight for you as hard as we can.”

This marks the 28^th endorsement Rep. Hilliard has received since announcing his candidacy last April. “Endorsements from organizations like the Farmers Federation today, and the many other unions that have joined our campaign, are encouraging because they are the voice of many citizens throughout the 7^th district,” said Hilliard.
